How To Calculate GP, Grade point is the cumulative points acquired or ascertained by a student I. E its just a means or forms of grading in the higher institution and its range.

Grade Point Average (GPA) is the measure used to summarize your academic achievement at Griffith. After the publication of final grades each trimester, your Program and Career GPA are calculated, and will be used by the University to inform decisions, including the following:

eligibility for prizes, University Medal, Award for Academic Excellence, and scholarships

accreditation and quality assurance.

Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) is the total measure used to summarize a student Academic performance and achievement in the higher institutions and also used to Affix such student to Class of Honour at the end of the Study year.

HOW G P IS BEING WEIGHED OR CALCULATED :

How To Calculate GP, A student GPA is the weighted average for all the course grades and is calculated across such students total period of study in the program and career (includes all programs of enrollment at the non-award, undergraduate or postgraduate career).

The weighted average reflects the relative contribution made by all the courses such students have undertaken based on their credit value.

How GPA is calculated

The grade awarded for each course is multiplied by the credit value for each course.

The aggregate score is divided by the total number of credits for all courses completed in the defined period of study.

The formula used to calculate your GPA is as follows:

GPA =The sum of G x P

Where G = grade in each course

Where P = credit point of each course

How To Calculate GP, If a student at the end of semester have been awarded a non-graded pass for a course, It will automatically not be included in the calculation of such student GPA.

The GPA will be rounded to two decimal places for the purposes of reporting in your Academic Transcript. If, for example, A student cumulative GPA score is 4.43478, it would be rounded to 4.44.

DESCRIPTIVE EXAMPLE ON HOW CGP IS BEING CALCULATED :

The Cumulative grade point is calculated by multiplying Grade of each course offered by the students by its Credit point and after that is being done, Its then divided by the Number of courses offered multiplied by their points.

The Cumulative point is calculated by multiplying each grade of the student in each course by its points and then total together.

How To Calculate GP, The Grade point is gotten by multiplying each course grade multiplied by its point and after ascertaining at the Cumulative point, you then divide the Cumulative point by the total point of courses the student offered.

Cumulative Grade point is calculated by adding up together the student G. P for both the first and Second semester of a year course and then divided by the number of semester and its always rounded up to two decimal places.

Cumulative Grade Point Average is now the final ascertained Grade point at the end of the course of study which is usually derived by adding together all the CGP acquired by such students multiplied by the number of years of the course and then divided again.

DISTINCTION : 4.0 – 3.5

UPPER CLASS : 3.49 – 3.0

LOWER CLASS : 2.9 – 2.5

PASS : 2.49 – 2.00

FAIL : 1.9 BELOW

The highlighted Grading system is for polytechnics which their peak acquired CGPA is always 4.0 and in ranking such students being used as an example the class of honor such student belongs to is the Distinction Class.
